They were happily mated and we hope that Pilas belly will grow.

Kuje and Manne has date on Sunday too, but nothing happened. They dated on Tuesday also, but still nothing. We tested Kuje and her heat was already ended. Probably this was not normal heat. So unfortunately they won't be puppies with Kuje and Manne.

MyDogDNA Pilot test

I have take some health tests from my dogs. Eye examination is very common in Finland. Kromis go their first eye examination when they are 5-7 weeks old puppies before they move their new homes. Usually second time comes when they are about 2 years old. (That is time when you can see first signs of cataract. Thats why you can't use kromi (male of female) under 2 years for breeding in Finland.) And if you use our kromi to breeding, it's eye examination should be taken under year ago. (I am not sure how this all works in other countries.) This is only test what is compulsory (with kromis), but you can take other tests.

Because we have this mix-breeding project in Finlans where we try to have some new blood to kromis, I thougth it would be fun to take some other health tests too. More we know about our kromis, more we can do to help them survive as a breed. Here is a link for some words about DLA diversity of kromis. I am really glad that Finnish breeders do so much work behalf this great breed. And I want to make my share. So we went today to a doctor and take MyDogDNA - Pilot test from Kuje, Pila and Tapa.:)

I have also tested knees of all my dogs. There where all healthy 0/0. Because I train agility with dogs I wanted to see if they are fine inside too. Kuje, Pila and Tapa are all fine, they have A/A hips and elbows 0/0. Kromis usually don't have problem with bones. Our biggest problems are an epilepsy and autoimmune diseases, but there is no test for those. You just have to wait unto they are old enough and have not been sick. That's why we try to use as old dogs to breeding as we can.I am lucky to have 4 kromis without epilepsy, although I thought that Amanda did have epilepsy, but it turned out that she have a heart problem.

Here are some inside photos of Pila and Tapa.

And some outside photos too :D

Brides should be pretty

Okey, it's a bit harder to write this in English. There are two type of kromfohrländers, wire-haired and smooth-haired. My kromis are all wire-haired, even Tapa. Wire-haired kromis should be trim once in a while.

Kuje's hair is quite easy. Here is picture berofe trim.

And here is picture after trim. Almost the same :)

Pila have longer hair, so it was easier to take pictures before and after. Her coat is easy to trim, and it take only 15 mins. I like very much her "ear-hair" and it was harder decide to take them off than actually do that.

Agility training

Kui and Piu

We trained agility yesterday. Just celebrating that heats started. It would be hard that soon they have to take break from agility. I am not sure if it's harder to me or to Pila, because she is really agility-addict. (And so am I ;) ) Kuje will be fine. She is more calm, and even that she do love agi, she is not so crazy as Pila is.

I ask my friend to take same videos, so here are Kuje and Pila training with me. There is more (older) agility-videos in my training blog, but text is only in Finnish. I am not so good handler, so I did made some mistakes with both dogs, but they were really great. :)

Double puppy plans

Pila is a co-owned bitch. That means that she will make one litter to kennel Kipazin. We have planned to make it last year, but she has cough and we have to delay it. We made new plans with Kipa and decided that we try to make two litters at the same time, one with Pila and Frank, and other with Pila's mom Kuje and Manne.

Pila and Kuje

Breeder of both litters is Kipa from kennel Kipazin, so if you are interested about litters, please ask more information from her. I know there is some people from other countries (than Finland) who are interested of thise litters, so I try to make some posts in English.

Both girls started their heat yesterday (1.2.2013). Let's see what happens :)
